With the breaking of Spellfire, I wanted to run the numbers of Evoker's Silk Amice and Evoker's Silk Raiment against Mantle of Nimble Thought and Spellfire Robe.
In the end, I lose 82 armor, 12 intellect, 3 critical strike, 40 damage, and 43 haste while I gain 26 stamina and 68 resilience.
It's an interesting trade off. Armor loss isn't huge. Intellect and crit loss are quite small as well. Gaining 260 health is nice as it pushes me to 10.2k health. And I also gain 68 resilience which is 1.72% less chance of me getting critically struck, -3.44% less critical strike damage and -1.72% DoT damage.
Worth a loss of 40 damage and 43 haste (2.7% casting time reduction)? Tough to say as I'm not on top of Resilience calculations since my main focus is on PvE.

A Closer Look
I'd love to take a look at older WowWebStats outputs from previous Gruul encounters to compare to the damage I did last night, but there are just a couple remaining as most have expired (I'd love to pay, but it's a tad bit too expensive just for parsing Warcraft stats).
This was my first Gruul run since putting together my haste set and it's tough to tell if it worked. The problem is I was hit by a lot of cave-ins last night and had to move quite a bit and bandage more than usual.
On March 11th, during the Gruul kill, I averaged 884 DPS with 91% DPS time. March 18th, averaged 1,127 DPS, 94% DPS time. Last night, 971 DPS, 94% DPS time. On the 18th, I was racing Nefernetcher for DPS and I had very few cave-ins and didn't take too much shatter damage, so it was almost the perfect DPS run. Also, I had a shadow priest in my group that attempt so I didn't need to evocate which costs me 8 seconds during the fight, or 3 fireballs with my haste set.
Looking at the raw Fireball stats, where the bulk of my damage comes from, I get the following:
March 19th I had the shadow priest in my group and due to that fact I could run Molten Armor rather than Mage Armor. The increased crit rate really paid off, along with the fire damage buff. I'm not sure why my miss% was so high last night, I was running at 2 points over the hit cap, but the average damage is up along with the hits - so the haste set seems to be paying off as I can get off more fireballs in the same amount of time.
I think I might have to go pay Dr. Boom a visit. I've never gone out there and tested gear DPS, so maybe later tonight if I'm not in the Karazhan run I'll go have some fun out there.
Also tonight, I will be exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive. I already updated my exalted factions count over to the right (22 and counting) and note the new progress made for the Gold Team. Mag down. SSC coming late April maybe. New pet count also. 63. #32 in the Top 50.

A Day of Firsts
Wow! What a day. I awaken from my slumber to run daily quests and I get a whisper from Nefernetcher that he needs my Soulfrost Enchant as he is off to Mount Hyjal. Of course, having never seen the place, I express desire to go, and lo and behold, there's a spot for me! So off to Mount Hyjal we went. We battled valiantly against wave upon wave of mobs and we were able to reach Rage Winterchill. Even though it was the first time in Hyjal for almost all 25 of us, we took Winterchill down to 33%. After a few more attempts at the waves, we reached Winterchill a couple more times and almost defeated (it?), taking it down to 8%.

After Hyjal, I took off to do more dailies to raise my reputation with the Shattered Sun Offensive. While on Quel'Danas, the lovely Vetarra asked me if I would like to see inside the Magisters' Terrace. Of course I would! I replied. So off we went, Aracely, Nefernetcher, Mercreus, and Vetarra. We had a couple of interesting fights, but made it through without any major problems. Kael'thas refused to drop the pet I would love to have (the Phoenix Hatchling) and all the bosses refused to drop the enchant I am looking for (Steelweave). But it was fun in there and it gave me just enough reputation after I completed my quests to reach friendly! Hello Void Shatter and Enchant Chest: Defense.
But the best part of the night was the acquisition of my new shoulders. After contacting the guild leader of Fruit of Elune multiple times without a response, I gave up on trying to buy the Hearts of Darkness. But during the aforementioned Mt. Hyjal run, 7 or 8 hearts dropped from the trash we killed. It appeared that no one in the raid had a pattern that required them, so I was very kindly given two of the hearts and now I have my Mantle of Nimble Thought. Combined with my Shadowcaster's Drape, I have 63 haste which gives me 4% faster casts. My fireball already has dropped from 3.0 to 2.9 seconds (2.88 exactly), and my global cooldown is all that much shorter. So I'm quite happy with these two items and seriously considering picking up the Runed Spell-Cuffs.
So right now, I'm an extremely happy gnome. Though Kael'thas didn't drop his phoenix pet last night or this morning, I will get it at some point and my reputation with factions continues to rise - and my gear is even better than ever!
