300 To Go

Checking my Achievements today, I noticed I have 754 of 1,054. So just 300 to go. 107 in PvP and 176 in Dungeons and Raids. Some of the PvP I can work on as I've been slacking in that area, but unfortunately, the Dungeons and Raids achievements will take much longer to complete. One of our guild 10 man raids recently completed Glory of the Ulduar Raider (10 player) which makes me really jealous! I'm so close with just Vezax and Yogg to go. Hopefully when the new year comes, our 10 man will be able to take those two down.

I'm also hopeful that before Cataclysm comes out I can get to 9,000 achievement points. I'm getting there and I think that PvP will be a big portion of any advancement towards 9,000 points. I still have a lot of achievements to go in almost all the battlegrounds, so I'm going to try and put in a couple of hours each weekend in PvP in the holiday battleground. As long as I focus on getting achievements, I should be able to knock off a few each weekend.

Isle of Conquest Sneakiness

I was bored yesterday and decided to hit up the Isle of Conquest to see if I could get my Isle of Conquest Victory. Of course, we didn't, but since it was my first "real" time in there (I tried once right when it came out and didn't last long), I decided to run around and do my own thing. First I helped capture the air base and I took a ride around on the airship once we took it.

After riding the airship, I didn't really know what to do. It seemed there were some people on defense, some over at the harbor, but generally, our team was clueless. So, I went sneaking around to all different parts of the map. I found an AFK siege vehicle, killed it, and then killed it's occupant, and then went and capped the oil refinery. While over at the refinery, I decided to see if there were any achievements I could do. And lo and behold, I just had to defend a base to get Isle of Conquest All Star. So since I was already at the refinery, I went up some steps and hid out in the control room, hoping that some other sneaky person would come and cap it, think there was no alliance around, and leave. And it worked like a charm.

A mage came over, capped the refinery, and 10 seconds later, I emerged from my hiding spot, defended the refinery, and got my achievement! I then went back into hiding hoping to lure the mage back. And again, it worked. He came back, I popped all my trinkets and though he almost killed me, I just barely got the last shot in on him. I then went looking to plant some bombs at the gates of the horde base, but before I could find the bombs, the horde had one, but I had my achievement.

It took me back to my days of being a rogue where you could just hide out anywhere you wanted without people seeing you. This time I had to use a control room to conceal my movements, but it was fun running all over the map without anyone impeding my progress. So while the All Star achievement wasn't really picked up in the most daring and dangerous way, it was accomplished and I might make some more forays back into the Isle. And maybe some day I'll figure out what's going on.

7,000 Done

Earlier today, after all dailies had been completed, I figured, let's go have some fun in the Eye of the Storm and try and get a few achievements. A few disappointing games later, I gave up there and decided, maybe Alterac Valley would treat me a bit nicer. I got into a nice fresh game, rode to the Snowfall graveyard, capped it, dropped down to the field of strife, found a poor little hordie there just ready to be destroyed and then moved ahead to Tower Point to cap that tower. That left me with defending a graveyard and defending a tower to complete Alterac Valley All-Star. I moved north a bit, tried to re-cap a tower the horde had taken, but another ally took it before I could hit the flag. I went south for a while, looking for a graveyard to defend, but found nothing there. After a while, the horde made their push north, capping graveyards, towers, and everything as they moved, but leaving them without defenders. It was my chance to strike! Quick, take the graveyard...easy. Now the tower - who knows what could be lurking inside...I had all my cooldowns ready to use, but ran into no resistance except for other allies following behind me ready to try and take the cap from me. But it was not to be! I would be the all-star on this day!

And with those 20 precious points...where am I now??

The only reason I made it to 7,000 with AV All-Star was because during last week's 10-man Ulduar run, we made some amazing time on our way to Thorim and we were able to engage him before Sif left him. I thought I would just get a nice little achievement and that would be it. We had no idea that Sif would then join the battle and make it a living hell for us. However, knowing that we could easily start the hard-mode, we gave it many more shots, but something little always went wrong - we'd lose a player in the arena for no good reason, I'd make a mistake on the gauntlet and die, or Sif would just cause us too much havoc. So unfortunately, we gave up on hard mode for the week so we could move on to Yogg, but I'm certain we can add Hodir hard-mode to our XT hard mode kill list.

Well I'll Be...

I never thought I'd see the day, but there I was, in Arathi Basin with my pocket healer (who didn't stay in my pocket like I trained her...), Xenoxa, and we were just going back and forth with the horde. 2 bases to 2. 1 to 1. 3 to 2. 2 to 3. At one point we had 4 to their 1, but quickly lost that advantage. But as we neared the end, the horde hit 1800 resources about 1 minute before we took back a third node and we hit 1800 not soon thereafter. Then it was a race to the finish. The horde had 2 minutes, 30 seconds until they won, but when we capped and held that third base, the timer switched over. We knew it would be close, at one point, Xenoxa pointed out it'd be 1980 to 2000. What a let down that would be.

But in the end...1990 to 2000! We won! And I got an achievement I never thought I'd see: We Had it All Along *cough*. And not only that, I had picked up the daily battleground quest two days earlier for Arathi Basin, so I just went and turned it in and received Call to Arms!. And with those two achievements, I broke the 6,800 point barrier. Not long now until 7,000!

Of course, the Summer Fire Festival isn't helping much. I finished my fires and juggled my torches, but I can't get the last achievement which requires a full set of Fire Festival gear. I currently sit at 45 blossoms and can only get 10 per day. There's 12 days left, leaving me just 165 blossoms, 35 short of the sandals I need. Hopefully Blizzard will fix this soon so as to not penalize those of us who did the fire festival fires last year. I also can't summon Ahune so I can't get my pet either...
